We collect only what we need to run the app. Your audio and personal licks never leave your device for AI training. You can request deletion of all your data at any time.
1. Who We Are
Praxis Saxophone is a product of ClefScape LLC (“ClefScape,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a Delaware limited liability company. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle your information when you use the Praxis Saxophone iOS application and the website at clefscape.studio.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: email address and display name when you create an account.
- Practice content: recordings, session notes, and goals you enter during practice sessions.
- Personal licks: melodic phrases and snippets you save as personal licks. These are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers or used to train AI models.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Practice session data: session duration, pitch accuracy scores, tempo, note sequences played, and week-over-week progress metrics.
- Device identifiers: anonymous device ID used for crash reporting and feature analytics.
- Subscription status: whether you are on the Free, Pro, Studio, or Educator tier (managed via RevenueCat; see Section 5).
- Crash reports and performance data: collected via Firebase Crashlytics when the app encounters an error.
2.3 Audio Processing
Audio from your microphone is processed on-device by our pitch detection engine to generate real-time feedback. Short audio excerpts may be sent to our Praxis Coach backend (Google Vertex AI) for conversation context; these excerpts are not stored permanently and are not used to train foundational models. We do not record, store, or share continuous audio streams.
On the clefscape.studio website, the optional “hum it” pitch-match demo uses your microphone only after you explicitly start it, and all pitch detection runs entirely in your browser. No microphone audio, no derived pitch data, and no recording is ever uploaded, stored, or transmitted off your device by the website, and the microphone is released as soon as you stop the demo.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the service: powering the Praxis Coach, generating practice feedback, tracking your progress over time.
- To personalize your experience: the Coach remembers your weak spots, previous session goals, and fluency trends across scales.
- To generate backing tracks: tempo and key preferences are sent to LALAL.AI to generate custom instrumental tracks (see Section 5).
- To maintain and improve the app: crash reports and anonymized usage patterns help us fix bugs and prioritize features.
- To manage your subscription: billing events are processed by RevenueCat; we receive only entitlement status, not payment card details.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, we rely on the following legal bases:

5. Sub-Processors and Third Parties
We share your data only with the processors listed in our Sub-processor Disclosure. A summary:
- Google Firebase — authentication, crash reporting, and analytics. Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Google Vertex AI — powers the Praxis Coach. Conversation context is sent per-session and not retained for model training.
- RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management. We receive entitlement status only.
- LALAL.AI — generates custom backing tracks from your tempo and key inputs.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
6. Children’s Privacy
Praxis Saxophone requires users to be at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@clefscape.com and we will delete it promptly. See our full Children’s Privacy Policy.
7. Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion, then permanently erased.
- Practice session data: retained for the life of your account to power progress tracking.
- Crash reports: retained for 90 days in Firebase Crashlytics.
- Praxis Coach conversation context: not retained beyond the active session.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).
- Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.

California residents: Under CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS in transit and encryption at rest for stored account data. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your device software up to date.
10. Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification and/or email at least 7 days before taking effect. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
