Personal Licks Policy

Personal licks are yours. They stay on your device, are never uploaded for AI training, and are deleted permanently when you delete your account or request removal.

What Are Personal Licks?

Personal licks are the melodic phrases, riffs, and short musical snippets you save within Praxis Saxophone for later practice or reference. They may include phrases you transcribed by ear, passages from your own compositions, or practice patterns you have developed.

You Own Your Personal Licks

All intellectual property rights in personal licks you create remain with you. ClefScape claims no ownership over them.

Storage and Privacy

Personal licks are stored locally on your device in the app’s sandboxed storage. They are:

  • Not uploaded to ClefScape servers.
  • Not accessible to the Praxis Coach or any AI training pipeline.
  • Not shared with any sub-processor listed in our Sub-processor Disclosure.
  • Not indexed, catalogued, or analyzed by ClefScape.

If you enable iCloud backup on your device, iOS may include app sandbox data (including personal licks) in your iCloud backup. This backup is encrypted and under Apple’s iCloud Privacy Policy. ClefScape does not access your iCloud backups.

Source Attribution Privacy

When you save a lick, you may optionally add a note about its source (e.g., “transcribed from Miles Davis, Kind of Blue, track 2”). This source note is:

  • Stored only on your device alongside the lick.
  • Never transmitted to ClefScape or any third party.
  • Never used to inform Praxis Coach responses or crash/analytics reporting.

We engineered this deliberately: source attribution notes must never reach any cloud system, including crash reporters, analytics services, or AI backends. This is a core privacy commitment, not a configuration setting.

You are responsible for ensuring that the musical content you save as a personal lick does not infringe third-party copyrights. Saving a verbatim transcription of a copyrighted composition as a personal lick for personal practice may be permissible under fair use, but we cannot provide legal advice on this question.

If you receive a DMCA notice related to personal licks you have shared publicly (a feature that may be added in future), ClefScape will follow the procedures in our DMCA Policy.

Account Deletion and Data Removal

When you delete your Praxis Saxophone account:

  • All practice session data, Coach conversation history, and account information on ClefScape’s servers are deleted within 30 days per our Privacy Policy.
  • Personal licks stored locally on your device are not deleted by ClefScape — they remain in your device’s app sandbox until you manually delete the App or clear its data.

To permanently remove personal licks from your device, delete the Praxis Saxophone app from your iOS device. This removes all locally stored app data, including personal licks.

Future Cloud Sync

If we introduce an optional cloud sync feature for personal licks in a future version, it will be:

  • Strictly opt-in — off by default.
  • Encrypted end-to-end so that lick data is not readable by ClefScape in plaintext.
  • Covered by an updated version of this policy announced at least 14 days before rollout.
